You will be surprised how some people can judge you based on your writing skills; you could be looked upon as stupid, or as a genius, on account of how well or poorly you write. In order to be on the good side of how people view you as a writer, it is important for you to write like a pro. So, here are 5 tips to writing like a pro, and the first one is:
Read wide: The truth is you can’t give what you don’t have, and if you don’t read enough you might never be able to write well. The benefit of reading goes beyond building your vocabulary. Reading makes you comfortable with, and content enough to write your own. Also, while reading other people’s work, keep in mind how they write and try to learn from them. Remember, the best way to be a master at what you do is to learn from other people who have done the same thing.
Then, beyond reading is the second tip:
Write to your audience: While writing, have an audience in mind and write to suit their needs.
After you have done that, you can now follow this third tip:
Write with authority: When you are writing, be confident about the information you are sharing. Also, follow the ‘abc’ of writing; be accurate, brief and concise.
This brings us to the fourth tip:
Never settle for the first draft: No matter how much in a hurry you are or how awesome you think you have written, take some time to proofread your work and make the necessary corrections to any mistakes you might have made in your first draft. Then read over again to be sure it’s error-free before you publish or submit your work.
And lastly; number five:
Add some style: While you are writing, add your own unique style to it and have some fun while you write.
Once you follow the tips above, you definitely would start writing like a pro!
Cheers…
